Matej Macak is the Director of Applied ML at EIT. In his role, he leads teams of product owners, data scientists and engineers to accelerate EIT programs through design of AI strategy and implementation of cutting edge tools. Building the team and working closely with programs, Matej will focus on programs getting maximal impact from leading AI strategy, tools and research in a fast-moving field.
Prior to working at EIT, Matej was Partner at Quantum Black / McKinsey & Co where he led teams of technical and subject-matter professionals to deliver value through AI to his clients across industries spanning healthcare, chemicals, finance and other sectors. Matej also led internal function focused on the R&D acceleration and generative AI in healthcare and advised clients on strategy of how to extract maximal value from technology and AI.
Matej is also a Chief Technologist at Every Cure, a charity focused on leveraging cutting edge AI tools to repurpose drugs to treat rare and underserved diseases with high unmet need. Before McKinsey, Matej obtained his PhD in Neuroscience from University College London focused on neural information processing and machine learning.
Outside of work, Matej likes to travel, try world’s cuisines, hike, spend time on charity work and his partner and cat.
