EIT Names Board of Directors

The Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) today announced that Professor Gil McVean, Lisa Flashner and Professor Steve Kelly have been appointed to EIT’s Board of Directors.
Over the last year, Gil, Lisa and Steve have provided the leadership that translated EIT’s ambitions into focused scientific and engineering programs. Building on this foundation, EIT’s new Board of Directors will be responsible for expanding scientific programs, strengthening the organisation, and creating an AI and robotics ecosystem.
As part of these organisational changes, Professor Santa Ono will conclude his role as EIT Oxford & Global President to focus his efforts on the Ellison Medical Institute in Los Angeles. “It has been a remarkable year of achievement for EIT Oxford,” said Professor Ono. “I’m grateful for what we’ve built there, and am looking forward to focusing on cancer research at the Ellison Medical Institute.”
“I’d like to thank Santa for his contributions to EIT,” said Larry Ellison. “His leadership and expertise reflect the strength of the institutions he has led. I have great confidence in Gil, Lisa and Steve, as they lead EIT into the future. They are deeply connected to the work of the Institute, our teams and the Oxford ecosystem. They have already demonstrated the value of their collective leadership.”
EIT’s scientific programs, strategic partnership with the University of Oxford, Education and Scholarships programs, and campus development will continue under the new leadership structure. The Board of Directors will focus on advancing EIT’s work across health, medical science and generative biology; food security and sustainable agriculture; climate change and atmospheric carbon dioxide; and artificial intelligence and robotics.
