Liam Timms is the Head of IT Services, responsible for ensuring the institute receives a seamless, high-quality support experience across all technical touchpoints. He leads the helpdesk function, helps to deliver seamless incident, problem and change management processes, and drives the continual improvement of IT services. His role combines strategic leadership with hands-on operational oversight, ensuring systems, processes and teams are aligned to the institute’s growth, governance standards and the needs of a complex scientific environment.
With more than a decade of experience across IT operations, infrastructure, security and service delivery, Liam has held senior roles spanning global support management, cloud and systems architecture, project leadership and team development. His background includes overseeing major global onboarding projects for users and properties, strengthening security frameworks, refining service workflows, and managing diverse technology estates in fast-scaling organisations.
Liam’s career achievements include designing automated onboarding processes, leading compliance activities, implementing scalable infrastructure, and building strong, user-focused IT teams. Outside of work, he enjoys pool, mountain biking, cooking (massive foodie), travelling, and collecting both old books and miniature spirits.
