Durukan is driven by curiosity and continually seeks to expand his knowledge. He is a competitive programmer earning a national bronze medal in Turkish Informatics Olympiads, qualifying for the Gold division in the USA Computing Olympiad (USACO). He is an avid debater, representing Turkey in World Schools Debating Championship 2025 after competing in many national tournaments.

His past research includes developing ClipCap-Med, an automated medical report generation model, and lithium-ion battery life cycle prediction systems, and he aspires to study AI interpretability to further understand black-box AI models.

He is a proud member and a volunteer mentor of the Limitless Makers community, a selective academic entrepreneurship programme for talented young people in Turkey.

Durukan enjoys roguelike games, music composition with a focus on classical Turkish art music, and poetic exploration.
