Sean completed her Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biological Engineering at MIT with a concentration in Immunoengineering. She is interested in integrating machine learning with immune repertoire profiling and protein modeling to better understand and engineer adaptive immune responses.
At MIT’s Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research, Sean worked in Dr. K. Dane Wittrup’s lab, where she developed expertise in protein engineering using yeast surface display and computational design to engineer novel protein binders. During an internship in Dr. Guillermo Montoya’s lab at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research in Copenhagen, she characterized the mechanism by which a bacterial toxin-antitoxin system mediates toxicity during phage infection, contributing to a publication in Molecular Cell. Following her early graduation from MIT, she joined Dr. Douglas Lauffenburger's lab, where she led a study on multi-omics analysis of maternal vaccine responses.
Sean also gained industry experience at Matrisome Bio, where she developed bioconjugation methods and engineered therapeutic moieties, and at Eli Lilly’s Genetic Medicines team, where she piloted a microRNA profiling platform using stem-loop primers and single-cell RNA sequencing to support gene therapy development.
Beyond the lab, Sean captains MIT’s varsity women’s soccer team and represents Hong Kong’s national women’s football team. She also enjoys exploring coffee shops and reading.
