Justin is a researcher and engineer of living things. He holds a degree in cell biology from University College London and was previously with the Biodesign Laboratory at the Francis Crick Institute, where he engineered novel proteins using robotics-accelerated evolution and computational design. His work included engineering a halogenase enzyme for more sustainable chemical synthesis, recently published in Nature Communications.

He now joins the Generative Biology Doctoral Training Programme at the University of Oxford, where he will continue developing new tools to let engineers build proteins with the same fluency nature does.
