Paul Williams

Systems Engineer

Paul Williams is a Systems Engineer for the AI & Data platform at EIT.  In his role, he designs, deploys, and  manages the Cloud infrastructure that provides the base for EIT Programs to  build on top of. Paul is creating the EIT Cloud infrastructure from  the ground up – focussing on ensuring the Program teams are unburdened by  technology decisions and have access to world-class resources for their  research and development efforts.  

Previously, Paul was  the Lead Platform Engineer at Vorboss, a Central London-based Internet  Service Provider, responsible for the Cloud infrastructure that internal  teams built software solutions on. Paul was also a Technical Lead  and Senior Technical Solutions Consultant at Google, responsible for  delivering technical implementations to large, multi-national Google Cloud  customers. In this role, he also authored and served as a technical reviewer  for several of the Google Cloud Certification Exams, and built internal data  methodologies for handling feedback across Google Cloud products.

Paul served on the  BCS Fellows Technical Advisory Group (F-TAG) from 2020 until 2022, and the  BCS Influence Board between 2022 and 2024.

Paul is a graduate  of Birkbeck, University of London, holding a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced  Computing Technologies. Paul holds two Fellowships. He has been a Fellow  of the BCS - British Computer Society – since 2020, and a Fellow of the RSA -  Royal Society of Arts - since 2022. Throughout his career, he has held  multiple certifications across multiple Public Cloud providers.

Outside of work, Paul sings  Baritone with the London Gay Mens Chorus, performing across London and  Europe. He is also the Associate Lighting Designer for the group.

He enjoys raising money  for charities through Speedrunning, a video gaming style where players work  to complete games as fast as possible. He serves as Head of Scheduling for  the United Kingdom Speedrunner Gathering, and Head of Safety / Senior  Fundraiser for the European Speedrunning Association.

Paul is a neurodiversity advocate, openly speaking about his ADHD diagnosis, and has a passion for finding individual strategies to manage and productively work with the condition.
