Dr Laura Lewis

Programme Director - Ellison Scholars

Dr Laura Lewis is the Programme Director of the Ellison Scholars programme at EIT, which provides full funding to study at undergraduate or doctoral level at the University of Oxford. Ellison Scholars represent top global talent and will contribute meaningful and substantively to the ambitious programmes at EIT, as they work with multidisciplinary teams and world leading researchers to tackle big global problems.

Laura previously worked at the Rhodes Trust on the Rhodes scholarships, and, prior to joining EIT, she helped to set up the Rise scholarship, a partnership between Schmidt Futures and the Rhodes Trust.

Laura worked in academia as a postdoctoral researcher in molecular biology of plant pathology. She holds a master’s and doctorate in systems biology from the University of Warwick and completed an undergraduate degree in biological sciences at Magdalen College, University of Oxford.

Outside of work, Laura enjoys running, dinner parties and overly ambitious crafting projects.
