Dr. Sharon Orrange is the Director, Wellness and Preventative Care at the Ellison Institute of Technology and an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine at USC’s Keck School of Medicine.

For 21 years, Dr. Orrange has been in private practice and served as an attending physician, training medical students and residents at Keck Hospital of USC and LAC+USC Medical Center.

Dr. Orrange received her BA in Biology at the University of California, San Diego, and a Master’s degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health. She received her MD from the Keck School of Medicine of USC and completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Orrange is a fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Orrange began work 30 years ago with the Department of Cardiology at LAC+USC Medical Center, participating in research on the long-term outcome of patients with mitral stenosis after catheter balloon valvuloplasty and authored a publication in Circulation. Dr. Orrange has partnered with investigators from UC Davis on several publications assessing the use of online information seeking by patients before and after their physician visits. Dr. Orrange recently authored publications addressing access to new medications and technologies to improve outcomes in under-resourced patients with Type 1 Diabetes and a publication on trust and telemedicine during COVID-19. Her most recent research interests include improving outcomes for underserved patients with Type 1 diabetes by expanding access to new medicines, technology, and telemedicine.

Dr. Orrange is board certified in both internal medicine and obesity medicine. Her areas of expertise are internal medicine, preventive medicine, geriatric medicine, women’s health, the treatment of obesity and excess weight, and the primary care management of mood disorders. Dr. Orrange is dedicated to helping her patients through early screening, prevention, and treatment to face any health needs head-on. Her patient care philosophy is to guide each patient and provide care strategies for common medical issues, big and small. Dr. Orrange and her patients are a team, sharing the power and responsibility of healing and making care choices.
