Dr. Darren Kessner is a Software Engineer at the Ellison Institute of Technology, where he works with researchers to create custom software and data pipelines using cutting edge methods in scientific analysis and visualization. Dr. Kessner has 25 years of experience writing software.
Dr. Kessner studied Mathematics at UCLA and Princeton before working as a software developer in various areas, including computer security at Symantec, and computer graphics at Sony. For several years, Dr. Kessner worked at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he was the original developer of ProteoWizard, a software project for proteomics data analysis that is used in labs around the world. Dr. Kessner then completed a PhD in Bioinformatics at UCLA, where his research involved large-scale population genomics simulations for analyzing evolution experiments.
For the past 9 years, Dr. Kessner has created and developed a new Computer Science program at Marlborough School, a girls school in Los Angeles.
