Ruairidh King is Lead Data Engineer for the Data Engineering team at EIT. He is responsible for designing, building, and deploying the data platform and pipelines which will underpin the development of cutting-edge AI at the Institute.
Initially trained as bioscience wet-lab researcher at the University of Cambridge, Ruairidh worked in mutagenisis, audiology, and CRISPR gene-editing, before bridging the gap into data engineering. He developed data pipelines for the Medical Research Council, Alan Turing Institute, Royal Statistical Society, and Joint Biosecurity Centre. More recently, he has been working in the national security sector, building and operating a data platform to inform UK Government agencies about the online threat-landscape.
In his free time Ruairidh enjoys cycling, and has a large collection of under-used rock climbing gear. He is also a gaming enthusiast - physical, digital or tabletop.
