Dr Paul Rutter is the Director of Implementation for Pathogena at EIT. In this new program, Paul leads the global implementation of approaches to improve the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases, and to strengthen pandemic preparedness. He is building a team to focus on applying cutting-edge science for real-world impact, ensuring that advancements in technology lead to tangible improvements in global health.
A public health physician, Paul has dedicated his career to managing large-scale, complex global health programs. He previously led health programming for UNICEF in South Asia, overseeing initiatives to improve child and maternal health across the region. He was also the Chief Operations Officer for WHO’s Global Polio Eradication Program. In addition to his experience in multilateral organizations, Paul has worked in the commercial startup sector.
Paul holds a Master’s in Public Health from Harvard University and an MBA from London Business School. He is also the co-author of the textbook Essential Public Health.
Outside of work, Paul enjoys sailing, skiing, cycling, and music. He treasures time spent with his wife and son, whether exploring new destinations or simply enjoying the outdoors together.
