McKenzie Thomas currently serves as the Senior Director, Business Operations for the Ellison Institute of Technology Los Angeles, where she oversees all business operations functions and drives the organization’s strategic initiatives. She is a results-driven strategy and operations executive with experience in the technology, retail, and venture capital industries. She has a proven history of leading cross-functional teams that have developed groundbreaking products and initiatives.

McKenzie previously served as the Director of Operations for Monetization Products at Meta (ads, business messaging, shops, payments), where she built and led the operational strategy for the 6,000+ person organization. Prior to this role, McKenzie was a Cross-company Strategic Initiatives leader. In this position, she steered the development of some of Meta’s most complex cross-functional initiatives, including the creation of the Meta Oversight Board – a first in industry, global institution, that provides independent oversight to Meta’s content moderation decisions and policies. Prior to joining Meta, McKenzie was an attorney at Cooley LLP, where she represented emerging growth technology companies and investors in a variety of transactions including venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions, and public offerings. Earlier in her career, McKenzie was a clothing and accessories Buyer for Bloomingdale’s, where she managed a variety of multimillion-dollar businesses.

McKenzie earned her J.D. from Harvard Law School and holds a B.A., summa cum laude, from Howard University.
