Dr. Malick Gibani is a clinician scientist and infectious diseases physician with extensive expertise in translational vaccinology and human challenge studies. He completed his medical training at the University of Oxford, followed by a DPhil focused on controlled human infection models for enteric fever. Currently, he works as a Clinical Lecturer in Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology at Imperial College London, where his research focuses on bacterial vaccines addressing priority antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and pandemic preparedness pathogens.
Dr. Gibani aims to employs advanced methodologies to identify correlates of protection, drive antigen discovery, and optimize human challenge models for vaccine development. As the leader of projects like the Challenge Non-Typhoidal Salmonella (CHANTS) initiative, he combines innovation and collaboration to address global health challenges. His vision is to translate insights from human infection models into refined antigen design and transformative strategies for evaluating vaccines and therapeutics.
